Nollywood star Yul Edochie has expressed deep concern about the growing inability of Igbo children to speak their native language.
In a post shared on Facebook, the actor and father of five lamented that many children from Igbo families are no longer fluent in their mother tongue, describing it as a cultural failure that urgently needs correction.
He wrote:
“Today, many of us who are Igbos, our children cannot speak Igbo. It’s a failure on our part that must be corrected moving forward.”
Edochie’s statement has sparked conversations online, with many agreeing that the preservation of indigenous languages is key to safeguarding cultural identity for future generations.
