Nollywood actress Esther Nwachukwu has stirred social media reactions after publicly advising May Edochie, the estranged wife of actor Yul Edochie, to relinquish the “Edochie” surname and move forward with her life.
In a video that has gone viral, Nwachukwu addressed May directly, urging her to reclaim her identity amid the ongoing family controversy involving Yul’s second marriage to actress Judy Austin.
“With all due respect, drop Yul Edochie’s name so that there will be peace,” Nwachukwu said. “Even if your documents still carry the name May Yul Edochie, go to court. You’re already winning — there’s nothing extraordinary about that name. Reintroduce yourself with a new identity and move on.”
Her comments come in the wake of renewed tension between May and members of the Edochie family, particularly following a recent social media altercation involving Linc Edochie’s new wife, Yinka, who allegedly leaked May’s private phone number online—further intensifying the public spectacle surrounding the family.
Nwachukwu went on to allege that there may be coordinated efforts within the Edochie household working against May’s interests.
“The family has clearly planned against her. Yul’s siblings and brothers appear to have been compromised. If they weren’t conspiring behind closed doors, the new wife wouldn’t come online to attack Queen May without provocation,” she claimed.
In a bold appeal, the actress called on veteran actor and family patriarch Pete Edochie to intervene and bring an end to the escalating situation.
“With all due respect, Pete Edochie, sir — I’m calling on you to put a stop to the madness in your family. This is your legacy and your name at stake. Enough is enough.”
May Edochie, who has gained public admiration for her dignity and composure throughout the turmoil, has yet to respond to Nwachukwu’s remarks. However, the actress’s commentary has reignited debates surrounding family loyalty, identity, and respect in high-profile relationships.
