Tragedy Strikes: Indian Family of Five Killed in Air India Crash While Relocating to London

Five members of a family from Banswara, Rajasthan, died in a tragic plane crash, Rajasthan Family’s Dream of New Life in London Ends in Tragic Plane Crash named Dr. Prateek Joshi, his wife Dr. Komi Vyas, and their three young children—daughter Miraya and twin sons Pradyut and Nakul—were on board a flight to London, hoping to begin a new life together. What was meant to be a joyful new beginning ended in a heartbreaking tragedy.

Dr. Prateek had moved to London for higher studies and spent three years building his career. He was finally ready to bring his family to join him. Dr. Komi had recently resigned from her job at Pacific Medical College in Udaipur and was excited to move to London with her children. Just days earlier, she had shared her plans with her coworkers.

“Prateek came home a month ago, excited and full of dreams. They shopped together in Udaipur, preparing for life in London,” said Lokesh Shukla, a family friend and neighbor.

Dr. Prateek’s father, J.P. Joshi, runs a sonography center in Udaipur, and his mother, Dr. Anita Joshi, is also a medical professional. The family was well-respected for both their careers and their kind nature.

Several other people from Rajasthan also lost their lives in the crash. These included five residents of Udaipur: siblings Shubh and Shagun Modi, chefs Vardi Chand and Prakash Chandra Menaria, and student Payal Khateek. Shubh and Shagun were heading to London for a holiday. Payal was studying there, while the Menaria brothers were returning to work after visiting family.

In Balotra, Khushboo Rajpurohit, recently married and traveling to join her husband in the UK, was also among the victims. From Bikaner, Abhinav Parihar was on a business trip when he lost his life in the crash.

Udaipur district officials said the victims’ bodies are expected to arrive by Friday evening after DNA testing is completed. Cremations are likely to take place on Saturday. Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has reached out to the grieving families and promised full support.
