Hollywood is abuzz with controversy as actor Derek Dixon has filed a staggering $260 million lawsuit against media mogul Tyler Perry, accusing him of sexual harassment, assault, and fostering a hostile work environment. The lawsuit, filed in the Los Angeles Superior Court, claims Perry abused his position of power to pressure Dixon into unwanted sexual encounters and allegedly retaliated when Dixon refused.
According to the court filings, the incidents allegedly began in 2020 while Dixon was working on Perry’s BET drama series The Oval. Dixon asserts that Perry sent explicit messages, made repeated unsolicited advances, and, after being rejected, orchestrated his removal from the show—resulting in the loss of hundreds of thousands of dollars in potential earnings. He reportedly filed a formal complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) in 2024.
In response, a spokesperson for Tyler Perry vehemently denied the allegations, calling them “completely false” and accusing Dixon of attempting to extort the acclaimed director and producer.
With Perry’s immense public profile and influence in the entertainment industry, the lawsuit is quickly gaining national attention and is expected to become one of the most high-profile legal battles in Hollywood this year.
