The National Sports Commission (NSC) has announced that the Super Eagles will participate in a training camp and play three friendly matches during the June 2025 international window.
A new reward system has been introduced to motivate the team as they aim for qualification to the largest-ever FIFA World Cup, set to be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico in 2026.
As first reported by SCORENigeria, win bonuses will no longer be paid on a match-by-match basis during the World Cup qualification campaign. Instead, each player will receive a flat appearance fee of $1,000 per game, regardless of the outcome, along with a daily camp allowance of $200 throughout the international break.
Officials told SCORENigeria that this change reduces the financial burden on the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) while still keeping the team motivated to qualify for the World Cup.
For the recent qualification matches against Rwanda and Zimbabwe, each Super Eagles player received a total of $3,600, broken down as follows:
- Appearance fee vs. Rwanda – $1,000
- Appearance fee vs. Zimbabwe – $1,000
- Camp allowance for 8 days (March 17–25) @ $200/day – $1,600
Once the Super Eagles secure their place at the 2026 World Cup, the players will be awarded a qualification bonus covering all 10 qualifying matches.
This revised bonus structure marks a welcome shift in the approach to player incentives. By focusing on collective achievement—qualifying for the World Cup—rather than on individual match wins, the government and NFF have introduced a system that promotes consistency and focus throughout the entire campaign.
