Veteran Nollywood actress, Rose Odika, has opened up about her crashed marriage, urging women not to remain in toxic unions at the expense of their happiness and wellbeing.
Speaking during an interview on the Talk To B Podcast, the screen icon revealed that her marriage faced difficulties right from the start.
Odika disclosed that she struggled with childbearing for the first five years of her union, a situation that brought immense pressure. Alongside infertility struggles, her husband’s disapproval of her acting career further strained their relationship.
Though she eventually welcomed a baby, the relief was short-lived as the marriage ended when her child was just one year and two months old.
Sharing her experience, the Delta-born actress stressed that marriage should never be endured at the cost of one’s life or identity.
She said:
“We got married, and unfortunately, children were not coming. I did not get pregnant for the first five years. My baby was one year and two months when we finally separated. That’s the only child I have.
“No need for toxic marriage. It is not worth it. It is not worth your life. A man who met you as an actor should marry you as an actor. If he cannot stay with it, then he should go.”
Her candid revelation has sparked conversations online, with many praising her courage and openness while also highlighting the importance of mental health, personal fulfillment, and mutual respect in marriages.
