Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has once again called on Christians across the globe to intensify prayers against the outbreak of a Third World War.
Speaking during the Holy Ghost Congress held at the Redemption Camp in Ogun State, the revered cleric reminded his congregation that he had earlier prophesied about the looming danger of a global conflict at the beginning of the year.
According to him, “We are not out of the woods yet. The Third World War could still break out before the end of 2025 unless God intervenes.” He urged believers not only to pray that the war does not happen soon but also to pray that it never occurs at all.
Global Tensions Heighten Concerns
Adeboye’s warning comes at a time when conflicts in the Middle East continue to escalate. Israel has carried out multiple attacks against Palestine, Iran, Yemen, and other neighboring nations, raising fears of a wider regional confrontation.
The growth of nuclear capabilities worldwide has further fueled concerns of a potential global war. Reports by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) highlighted an emerging arms race among nuclear-armed nations. The 2025 SIPRI Yearbook revealed that the nine countries with nuclear weapons collectively hold about 12,331 warheads.
The International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN) also noted that over 9,600 of these warheads are in active military stockpiles, with Russia and the United States controlling about 90% of them. Russia leads with over 5,500 nuclear weapons, while the U.S. follows closely with more than 5,000.
A Call for Vigilance and Prayer
For Pastor Adeboye, the figures underscore the urgent need for divine intervention. “These are not ordinary times,” he said. “If we do not pray, the world may witness a conflict greater than anything we have ever seen.”
Meanwhile, discussions around nuclear disarmament remain ongoing among world leaders and international organizations, but the continued stockpiling of weapons suggests that the risk of escalation is far from over.
Adeboye’s call serves as both a spiritual and global reminder: while governments and institutions debate policy, prayers may yet stand as the world’s greatest shield against catastrophe.
