EFCC raids Taraba University, arrests 37 suspected Internet fraudsters

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has carried out another massive raid, this time in Wukari, Taraba State.

Operatives from the Makurdi Zonal Directorate confirmed the arrest of 37 suspected internet fraudsters, popularly known as Yahoo Boys, near the Federal University, Wukari.

According to the EFCC’s official statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, August 27, 2027, the suspects were picked up after credible intelligence exposed their alleged involvement in cybercrime activities.

What EFCC Recovered

During the sting operation, the EFCC seized:

  • 2 flashy cars
  • 12 laptops
  • 46 mobile phones

The anti-graft agency revealed that investigations are ongoing and promised the suspects would be charged to court soon.

This development has since sparked conversations online, with many Nigerians praising the EFCC for clamping down on cybercrime while others question the rising cases of internet fraud among youths.
