Port Harcourt, Nigeria — As Nigeria looks ahead to the highly anticipated 2027 presidential election, popular cleric Prophet Abel Boma has urged Nigerians to pray fervently for Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP).
Speaking in a video shared on his official YouTube channel on Saturday, July 19, 2025, Prophet Boma delivered a striking prophecy about potential betrayal and danger facing the former Anambra State governor.
Peter Obi warned of deception and betrayal
According to the cleric, Obi may face deceit from close political associates as the election approaches.
“Let us pray for Peter Obi. While the time is getting fresh, I saw him sitting, and at the end, they called him a fool,” Prophet Boma said.
“The Lord said it is because of deceit. He will be deceived. They will say ‘you are the one who chose’, but by the end of the last preparation to come as the No.1 citizen, they will betray him.”
The prophet further warned about threats to Obi’s safety:
“Let us pray concerning the life of Peter Obi, because his life is not also safe. They will come after him in a short while. The Lord says ‘let’s pray for Peter Obi’.”
The video, which has since gone viral, has sparked widespread discussion among supporters and political observers.
Peter Obi confirms 2027 presidential ambition
Peter Obi has already declared his intention to contest the presidency again in 2027, dismissing rumours suggesting he might settle for the role of running mate to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The 64-year-old politician reaffirmed his commitment to the Labour Party, while also aligning with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition, a political alliance seeking to challenge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.
Obi clarified that he is focused on leading Nigeria and remains open to serving a single four-year term if that aligns with the coalition’s strategy.
Nigeria’s political landscape ahead of 2027
In Nigeria, a president serves a four-year tenure, with the option to contest for a second and final term. President Tinubu, who took office in 2023, is expected to seek re-election in 2027, making the upcoming race a significant contest.
Prophet Boma on Nigeria’s future leadership
Previously, Prophet Boma predicted that while many young Nigerians desire change, the country’s next president “will not transform Nigeria” as expected. He also suggested that former President Olusegun Obasanjo retains a “hidden influence” over the nation’s political trajectory.
As political movements and coalitions continue to take shape, all eyes remain on Peter Obi’s next steps and the broader race that could redefine Nigeria’s political future in 2027.
