Renowned Nigerian evangelist and spiritual leader, Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, founder of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, has passed away at the age of 80.
His family confirmed the news in a statement on Monday, announcing that he died on October 6, 2025.
Describing his death as a “glorious transition” from a life of devoted service to eternal rest, the family celebrated his remarkable contributions to Christianity in Nigeria and beyond.
Ukpai, often regarded as one of Nigeria’s most respected evangelists, dedicated more than six decades to evangelism, teaching, and prophetic ministry. His messages and crusades impacted millions globally, shaping spiritual growth and faith renewal across generations.
“He was a faithful soldier of the cross who devoted his life to spreading the gospel with passion and integrity,” the family wrote.
“His teachings, prophetic insights, and mentorship have left a lasting legacy that will continue to inspire believers for years to come.”
Throughout his ministry, Rev. Ukpai was known for his powerful crusades, deep biblical insight, and commitment to raising leaders in ministry.
Beyond his spiritual work, he was a loving husband, devoted father, and mentor to many, earning respect for his humility, wisdom, and compassion.
While the family mourns his loss, they expressed gratitude for a life well-lived in the service of God, saying, “He has finished his race and is now resting in eternal praise.”

Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai’s ministry, which spanned over six decades, leaves behind an enduring legacy through his evangelistic outreaches, educational initiatives, and humanitarian efforts that continue to touch lives worldwide.
His life, the family noted, was a true reflection of the biblical verse:
“To live is Christ, and to die is gain.” — Philippians 1:21.
