Police Fire Teargas to Disperse Sowore, Protesters in Lagos

Police Teargas Sowore, Protesters During Lagos Demolition Protest

Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command on Monday fired teargas to disperse protesters demonstrating against the demolition of buildings in the Oworonshoki area of the state.

Reports indicate that former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore was among those dispersed after police operatives moved in to break up the protest.

The protest, organized by the Take It Back Movement, was held in solidarity with residents affected by the recent demolitions allegedly carried out by the Lagos State Government.

Witnesses said the situation escalated shortly after Sowore arrived at the protest ground, prompting security operatives to fire teargas to scatter the crowd.

No casualties were immediately reported as of the time of filing this report, but tension remained high in the area following the police intervention.
