Nigerian Celebrities Condemn Killings in Benue State, Demand Urgent Government Action

Amid escalating violence and a growing death toll in Benue State, several prominent Nigerian celebrities have taken to social media to express their outrage, demand justice, and call for immediate intervention from the government.

Artists, actors, and influencers such as Falz, 2Baba, Mr. Macaroni, Lasisi Elenu, Tacha, and Femi Kuti have used their platforms to amplify the voices of affected communities and draw attention to the human toll of the ongoing conflict.

Falz, a well-known rapper and activist, shared on X (formerly Twitter):

“What’s happening in Benue is heartbreaking and shameful. We can’t continue to normalize mass killings. The silence is deafening.”

2Baba (Innocent Idibia), a native of Benue State, expressed his anguish in a video posted on Instagram:

“My heart is heavy. I’m terribly sad and angry. It has become a national emergency—what is going on in my state, Benue? I can’t wrap my head around it. This is not child’s play. It’s beyond frustrating. I don’t even know how to begin expressing my sadness, grief, and anger. These tragedies just keep happening again and again.”

Mr. Macaroni, a popular comedian and social activist, also voiced his frustration:

“Over 200 Nigerians killed in Benue!!! 200 PEOPLE!!!!! 200!!!!!! I don’t think we understand the gravity of this barbarism!!! What exactly is the Government doing??? 200 PEOPLE??? Just like that!!!!”

Other celebrities have posted awareness graphics, shared petitions, and urged the public to contact elected officials and support humanitarian relief efforts in the region.

This surge of solidarity from the Nigerian entertainment industry contributes to the mounting public pressure on both federal and state governments to address the violence in Benue State with urgency and decisive action.
