Ossai Ovie Success, a media aide to Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, has publicly criticized Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson Okojie for alleging that her colleague, Regina Daniels, married businessman and lawmaker Ned Nwoko at the age of 17.
Mercy Johnson had earlier shared on Instagram that Regina was “just 17, a teenager,” when she tied the knot with Ned Nwoko.
Reacting to the claim, Ossai took to Facebook to clarify that Regina Daniels was 19 years old when she got married in 2019 — not 17, as widely speculated.
The governor’s aide described Mercy Johnson’s statement as misleading, urging her to stop spreading false information. He emphasized that while no marriage is perfect, people should refrain from fueling negative narratives about the couple.
He wrote:
“Mercy Johnson should stop spreading lies. Regina was not 17 when Ned got married to her. Ned married Regina Daniels in 2019.
Regina’s date of birth is 10/10/2000, which means she was 19 at the time.
I am disappointed with this constant age narrative. Honestly, I don’t like what is going on.
No marriage is perfect; we all have issues in our different marriages. Let’s stop pushing narratives that can destroy the love that still exists between Regina and Ned.”
