Popular highlife and Afrobeats singer Flavour has reacted to an online accusation that he neglects upcoming Igbo musicians.
News reports that issue started after a social media user identified as Charles accused the singer of focusing only on his personal projects while ignoring struggling talents from the South-East.
He claimed many gifted Igbo artistes are finding it hard to survive in the music industry because well-known stars from the region are not helping them grow.
Charles alleged that Flavour has never promoted, signed, or worked with young Igbo musicians.
He also questioned the singer’s association with controversial cleric and entertainer Odumeje, saying such a partnership does nothing to help upcoming talents.
According to him, Flavour avoids working with new artistes because he fears they could rise above him in the future.
The critic went further to accuse Igbo artistes of being selfish and claimed that the lack of support has pushed some young creatives into frustration after their music dreams fail.
Reacting, Flavour advised the critic to focus on making money and setting up his own record label to support young Igbo talents himself.
He wrote: “I have given you people one serious advice for the new year. Jee chuba ego o. Chuta ego then start your own label make you help the wonderfully talented Igbo boys scattered all over. Make us proud Odogwu Charles.”
